Cruise control: It works as is, but without the clutch switch the engine redlines if you press the clutch. I need to find out if the 01X and 01E Have the same mount to the frame. Failure to compelete this will cause the coding not to complete. You can choose between a 1st-2nd gear rebuild and a full 1st-6th rebuild. The more popular way is to find a 2004 A4 shift linkage and box. What do you do with the seat belt tensioner cables that normally wrap around the top of the transmission? Some say capable of 400+ but it's never been documented. There is an extra through hole up there not used.
Some have been able to bend the line slightly to get it to fit. I have an 01e for my build. Last edited by on Sat Jul 26, 2008 4:27 pm, edited 1 time in total. I bypassed it for now. Yes, a Audi 4000 Quattro drive shaft fits right in.
Shifter completed: Connect the clutch line and bleed! Sure they are cheaper overseas but because they are so scarce these days worldwide, dealers know what they have. Do the half shafts mate to the 01E tranny? This is commonly replaced with an updated version. . The individual component part numbers most of them have an 01X prefix which suggests that few, if any parts are interchangeable with the 01E though they look the same in the illustrations. The more popular way is to find a 2004 A4 shift linkage and box. I had to eventually import mine from England. They are designed to break. The front axles themselves are the correct length. The other 4 also were well on their way out. Good tranny for what it's worth.
Not sure, I never tried. Because of this any wear will cause the collar to lock up and prevent the transmission from being shift into or out of 1st or 2nd gear. A dealer however phoned me on Friday. It just clips in, pull straight up. Do the original 01A output shafts bolt on the 01E trany? No one has mentioned this before! I am looking into finding a different one that fits, or fabricating something.
To me, the car's 1st gear does not give the feeling of being mis-matched for road use. Larger gear width to hold more torque. The metal cylinder does not suffer from these problems. Don't ask me how i know. Note that Audi 200 were later versions of this car and the 9000 range were again the same but the American version of the car.
