Not sure about the specific fluid level error - did you check the fluid whichever one it is :- level to confirm if it was low? The car stalls and won't restart, check engine lights go crazy, transmission failsafe and stability control warnings come on, valvetronic desynchronization, ect. In extreme cases there could be a complete loss of power assist braking. The problem some times also turns up when stopping the for traffic when running on idle speed. E38's are timeless, beautiful cars. As for the fluid, I'll check it soon. Ditch it for an e38. I have heard that a lot of people are having transmission related problems.

I have been out a couple of times today and everything functioned well except for one time when engine went on idle speed. After driving the car a few hours later, stopping engine and starting it up again and selecting reverse gear, problems occured. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure who advised that the vehicle was not included in any recalls and provided no further assistance. I have wasted over 100 days of my car being in the shop and at this point I cannot drive my car because the transmission is constantly failing and the car is not drivable. I started the car, and it worked fine. This used to be my main car to drive, since the other car my mom's minivan is completely beat up and needs new.
