This bike can take anything i throw at it. Besides ridiculous rock gardens, this bike can handle just about anything. No service is required on any component, part, or accessory. Size felt good, I'm 5'8''. Personally i do not use it as an all mountain bike and therefore have a medium frame which can be flicked around a little bit.
It needs to be able to do the fast and buff, the rock-crawler Utah trails, high-altitude lungbusters, and huge days of descending at the bike park. You can use it for Dirtjumping,Freeriding or Downhill. Going up hill or pedaling on flats is a work out as the suspension design suffers from pedal bob. Shock with the settings Cane Creek Double Barrel with Ti spring Set at what feels good. I think the bottle rocket crosses over better.
Good condition - not ridden hard, Fox float suspension, 6 inches front, 5. I had the same dillema as you, medium or large, I went for the large and havnt regreted it yet. I think that could have been caused by my inability to set it up for trail riding conditions. I know that I wouldn't ever consider buying or riding one again but if you're strictly riding bike parks or gravity feed trails then it might be a bike to consider. By simply setting shox and changing tyres i rode bmx tracks, dirt jumps, slopestyle courses, fr trails and dh slopes. Personally i do not use it as an all mountain bike and therefore have a medium frame which can be flicked around a little bit.
At first they tried to suggest i just use a different shock but eventually replaced it and it shipped quickly. I'll continually edit this post after more time in the saddle. The entire bike was just given a full tune up by a professional bike mechanic and everything was inspected and adjusted. Either way i love this bike and it is very versatile. Personally I think the covert would be too limiting for freeride and bike parks, that just isn't the compromise I would want to make. So sick, this thing is so easy to ride, the frame survived all the abuse i could dish out, at high speeds like on a dh it gets a little twitch, most likely cuz its a small and im 5'11. Good: The frame or fork or components or accessories have cosmetic blemishes.
I enjoy every minute on it. I had been looking at this and the Covert but this is such a great deal it may be hard to pass up. I just got my Bottlerocket yesterday and I'm struggling to find anything wrong with it. I like the way it feels on jumps very stable and maneuverable, I would say the bike has improved my riding and made it that much more fun. Really versatile bike, the 5. I've had a few different bikes since then but that bike was special. Suspension and brakes may need to be serviced.
And yes, with the right setup it'll climb just fine. They are working wonderfully, I am very impressed. In short get out and try one and you will not be disappointed. I enjoyed my Bottlerocket for about 2 years. The bicycle has some mechanical issues and a tune up is necessary.
In short get out and try one and you will not be disappointed. Whoohoo, I get go first. If they still did a white or black one they would have my money. Personally I think the covert would be too limiting for freeride and bike parks, that just isn't the compromise I would want to make. I'm 165cm tall and S frame is what I needed not to long and not to short. The bike looks simple but. Frame is a medium, here is a parts run down.
Everything I have read suggest that they are great for most anything, is this true? The only thing that i saw wrong with it is when in really crazy braking bumps or rough trails the back end seems to stiffen up and it feels like a hardtail. The guys I worked with through email at transition were really helpful and I'd gladly work with them again if I have any problems with the bike or if I want another. The frame is realy overbuilt it is strong and reliable. From my expierience Transition frames have a small cockpit. It's the most versatile bike i ever owned. Rocking a 1x9 drive train with a 36T chain ring makes it work best.
Got the last year of production in raw. Our lineup reflects the type of bikes we love to ride. Well I just built it up so I'm not sure how well everything is working but initial impressions are the it is wonderful! With 160psi feels plush for my weight with max'ed Bottom-Out, I can keep the plush feel without worrying about bottoming out. I'm looking to try out a new 27. From there is all ends.
