One thing we discovered is the Keisler bellhousing is cast 0. Our Spal fans allow for ample clearance in the engine compartment providing for good air circulation. One block that we know of is the 6. You might actually improve your 0-60 times if you have enough power, and it sounds like you will. Hopefully I can get this all done tomorrow and only fall one day short of my one week swap goal. Do I need an adapter for the flex plate so the converter doesn't have too much play in it? Its nice to have an engine that is completely reliable, fires up every time, is twice as good on gas as the tired 350 I pulled out, and has more then enough power to get me to work everyday.
I can't wait to hear how you like driving it. I'm just afraid to do all this work for the trans and then find out it won't run. I put it together crank flex plate spacer and it seem that the tc is just not close enough to bolt to the plate. Then I tried some more and around 8:00 came here to check to forum. This will not fit 1999-2000 6. Well here is some picture of the running install, I still have a lot more work to do to clean up the wiring, fix the throttle cable, make an intake, add some tailpipes to the exhaust, maybe paint the ecu black so it doesn't stick out so much and probably a few more things.
A: Thanks for the question. The dished style of the flex plate makes for the same bolt pattern, but the Hughes flexplate adapter spaces the crank out. For example, the flat flexplate used with the spacer is designed for a 300mm 11. These trans choices not only limit creativity but also tend to be more expensive. RacnJsn95; I was aware that there is a flexplate for this swap, however from reading another persons swap I was under the impression that the stock flexplate had bolt holes that would line up so I was planning on that. I was then able to drop the engine in keeping the transmission in its stock location so that the shifter linkage and driveshaft would be uneffected. The rest of my day was spent on the fuel system.
Similar to any good racing or sports team, I have sponsors. I tune it , I don't run 16 psi on pump gas I run it on a mix of 94 pump and 109 unleaded race gas and yes this car see's a very heavy dose of meth timing is between 18-20 degrees depending. How has it been since you done the change and what's the noticing everyone differences since the swap. One small suggestion on your sending unit. The differences come into play as to the bolt pattern of the torque converter to the flexplate and the snout length of the torque converter. This is just an example of one application we encountered. That's amazing that you could do all that in a little over a week.
I'm really tired of breaking 4l60e's. It is starting to look like something! I want the strength over the overdrive. I under estimated how much I needed to notch out of the frame to get the passengers side exhaust manifold to fit. Ideally, you want to position the outboard portion of the release arm the part actuated by the clutch linkage angled slightly toward the front of the car. I'm not to happy how the main junction of harness is located right in the middle of the intake, so I'll probably take some time to reroute the wires to make them more hidden.
As you will see, there are plenty of options that allow you to use all six bolts. But if using five of the six bolts works for you, then everything else is easy. I also put the radiator support back on as well as many other missalanious things. Not a single issue so far. I have also been driving the car alot to and from work etc.
If you dont mind looking at this tune? This seemed to work good. The differences come into play as to the bolt pattern of the torque converter to the flexplate and the snout length of the torque converter. As you will discover, the stock metric pressure plate bolt pattern is the same as the Gen I 11-inch diaphragm pressure plate pattern. There are actually two quick fixes for this situation. Overall a great night of racing ran new personal best et,60 foot and mph and did it all on my street set up with the boost down and pump gas!!! Operating System: 12208322 Attached is the stock tune I currently have that needs the swap. Yeah the first file I sent had it enabled, but I went back and removed it and resent the file bud. I had the same problem with mine.
Shifty; As I am using the stock unbaffled tank it is best to go with a low pressure pump, a small storage tank then a high pressure pump. I have been driving it to work. There are a few unique things about the torque converters that bolt to the flexplate. A few small tricks and done. .
The fab work for the crossmember is a piece of cake, and I will purchase a yoke and have a new driveshaft made. You mentioned the spacer, and bolts for the torque converter, but you said you had to drill your own holes. Verify you have power to your injectors, and that you actually have fuel pressure i. Cold side mocked up out of intercooler, with Blow off mounted and meth nozzle installed Hotsides done, Pressure tested, wrapped etc. First, pull out the black plug on the intake manifold by holding pressure on the gray ring. I then spent some time hooking up vaccum lines, linkages etc. The fluid level is critical as well: make sure that the transmission is not underfilled.
I know I said I would post yesterday but I took a little break from this truck thing to catch up on everything I negected for the past week. But it still wouldn't run. It ended up that my injectors were clogged. I wouldn't have any experience on that but I would think that at the least your going to be staring at a check engine light but I would think the engine will otherwise run normally. This can cause some problems on vehicles requiring oil pan modifications. Maybe someone can get you a file still though.
